Press Release: G. Zimmerman River Oaks Stand Your Ground Event -- July 21, 2013

HOUSTON, TX - July 21, 2013

Americans outraged by the ongoing racism and intimidation tactics of the New Black Panther Party, will peacefully stand their ground in protest outside a Houston community today. "No person in River Oaks is safe from the racially driven threats of Quanell X and the New Black Panther Party," said John Smith, who is organizing the protest.

He added, "Imagine what’s going through the minds of every man, woman and child who live in River Oaks when the ‘leader’ who said, 'If you feel that you just got to mug somebody because of your hurt and your pain, go to River Oaks and mug you some good white folks,' comes marching in with his army of thugs."

In response to this blatant racial intimidation, the “G. Zimmerman River Oaks Stand Your Ground Event” page was launched on Facebook. Americans of every color and creed are asked to join the group on Sunday at 3pm at Live Oak Park, east of S.Shepherd Dr., off Brentwood Dr., where there will be a march to expose the racism of the New Black Panther Party. Participants are asked to bring flags, video cameras, noise makers and signs that expose the racism of the New Black Panther Party, but no weapons.

It has been made clear to the Houston Police Department and protesters of the New Black Panther Party that this group does not condone violence and does not wish to make any physical contact with them. “The difference is obvious,” John Smith said. “We will not enter the River Oaks community and disturb the residents on a Sunday afternoon. We’ll peacefully voice our opinion of race-baiting outside of the community and will not block traffic. Quanell X and his band of merry thugs will march into an area he’s threatened int he past. His motives seem clear enough.”

Smith concluded, “No parent should know the pain of a tragedy like the one that ended Trayvon Martin’s life. But the jury saw the evidence clearly pointing to self-defense and their conclusion also matches the eyewitness and ballistics data. For Quanell X and the New Black Panther Party to take advantage of this incident to stoke their decades-old animosity toward River Oaks – and also for the media to completely ignore that past threat – is utterly indefensible. Parents will have to explain to their children why the man who told people to mug 'some good whitefolks,' in their community is going past their door.”
